Enjoying The Outdoors
If you’re anything like us, you’re probably sick of the cold by now and are welcoming those few extra degrees spring has to offer. Now that we’re inching further and further away from the frost for another year, it’s time to dust off your singlets and shorts and head back outside.
You’ll be pleased to know that Australian Avocados also love spring time!
Spring is the perfect time of the year for picnics in the park with friends. You’ll need to make sure you grab a picnic rug, sunscreen and plenty of dips and nibbles to keep you going! Spring is a great time to kick around the soccer ball, throw around a Frisbee or laze around in the sun before it starts getting too hot! Just be sure to watch out for those pesky magpies!
Once you’re out an about, you may again find the motivation to get out and exercise. After your workout, it’s important to eat a nutritious meal to replenish your body and rebuild muscle. Adding an avocado to a chicken dish, some seared salmon or even your protein smoothie is a fantastic way to introduce some healthy flavour to your diet.
Of course, occasionally the temptation of a good spring fiesta overrides your health regime. It’s important to eat while drinking when you can – so ensure you always have something delicious around to munch on. If it all gets too much and the next morning is a little hard to bear, ensure you drink plenty of fluids to get rid of that hangover ASAP!
For those of you who are feeling adventurous, a road trip may be on the agenda. Whether to the coast or down some winding road, you may find yourself hungry on the way. Make the traditional egg sandwich a little more tempting by adding some avocado. “Are we there yet” will be silenced – at least for a little while!
Above all, it’s important to have fun! Spring is a great time to get outdoors and spend time with friends and family. Of course, if they all get a little too much, a little solidarity with a book in the sun never hurt anyone. Enjoy!
