Stuck With Half An Avocado? What To Do With The Other Half...
Standing at the fridge looking for a quick snack, I see a half avocado in the fridge door…. Oh dear, it’s all brown and looks like it’s no good to eat anymore. Suggestion?
Take it out and scrape off that filmy brown flesh because underneath, you may find a perfectly good half an avocado that you could use to dip your veggie sticks into. What a healthy and quick snack! Finding a half-finished avocado happens quite often, especially if you are the only one in the house-eating avocado, as you can never eat a whole one in a single meal – they are just too filling. Try using that half an avocado to add to your morning smoothie to provide a nutrient boost to the start of your day.
If you prefer a hot meal option for that last little bit of avocado, use the avocado as a spread on toast or wraps instead of butter. It tastes better and can actually assist in maintaining heart health as avocado contains less saturated fat247. Avocado also makes a great topper for natural, wholegrain, savoury biscuits that can help satisfy the appetite when consuming portioned controlled meals.
Finally, if you are really in a rush and need to have that super quick fix: a spoon, a little cracked pepper and you can eat the left over avocado straight out of the skin…. Delicious!
